Frequently asked questions
Answers to common questions about staying, hosting, payments, and cancellations on Vivenar.
Staying in Mexico City
What length of stay does Vivenar support?
Listings are set up for stays of 7 to 90 nights. That is longer than a typical short trip and shorter than an annual lease.
What does request to book mean?
You send a request with your dates, and the host has 24 hours to accept or decline. If accepted, you have 24 hours to start the required first payment. The stay is confirmed only after that payment succeeds.
Can I message the host before paying?
Yes. Once you send a request, you can message the host in the context of that request.
Who can see my request and profile information?
The host for that listing sees your request details and the profile information needed to evaluate your stay. Other hosts do not see your requests unless you contact them separately.
For hosts
What do I need to list my space?
A furnished space in Mexico City, a complete profile with photo and bio, a verified phone number, and a listing that meets our publish checklist including photos and pricing.
Do I need Stripe before I can publish?
You can create and edit a listing before connecting Stripe. To publish your listing and accept paid bookings, you must connect an eligible Stripe account.
How do I get paid?
Guests pay you through Stripe Checkout, and payouts go to your connected Stripe account. Vivenar bills the 5% platform fee separately. Guests do not pay a separate Vivenar service fee.
What happens when I receive a request?
You review the guest’s dates, guest count, and profile, and you can message them before deciding. You have 24 hours to accept or decline. If you accept, the guest has 24 hours to start the required first payment.
Payments and fees
When do I pay as a guest?
You pay after the host accepts your request. You then have 24 hours to start the required first payment. If a balance is due later, you pay it through Vivenar by the stated deadline; Vivenar does not charge it automatically.
Who sets the price?
The host sets pricing for the listing. You see the full breakdown in the booking flow before payment.
What does Vivenar charge?
Guests do not pay a separate Vivenar service fee. Hosts pay a 5% platform fee, billed separately. See the Pricing page for details.
Cancellations and refunds
What happens if I need to cancel?
Before the required first payment, you can cancel without charge. After payment, the outcome depends on when you cancel and whether the stay was paid with a deposit and balance or in full. See the Cancellations and Refunds page for details.
What if the host cancels?
Hosts are expected to honor confirmed bookings. If a host cancels after payment, the guest receives a full refund of the amount paid for the stay, subject to review and processing.
Are refunds automatic?
No. After payment, cancellation and refund requests are reviewed before a refund is approved. Approved refunds are processed through Stripe, and your bank or card issuer may take additional time to show the credit.
